The TI-92 Plus MODULE has Flash technology, which means that the software loaded in it can be changed.
If you have Graph-Link to connect your TI-92 to your computer, you will be able to download latest software versions or future software applications from TI' web site without having to buy a new hardware.
The TI-92 Plus MODULE increases the total RAM to 256Kb, 198Kb of which are available to the user. This allows you to store almost 3 times as much data as on your classic TI-92.
News :

DALLAS -- April 22, 1999 -- Thirteen months ago, Texas Instruments, a leader in educational technology, introduced its first calculator - the TI-73 - with Flash memory technology. This technology expands the calculator's functionality, making the unit fully software upgradable and flexible for educators as their curriculum changes. After an enthusiastic response from educators, TI is introducing its fourth Flash-based unit, the TI-92 Plus, at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) conference in San Francisco today.
"We've been thrilled with the positive response from educators who have embraced the Flash memory technology," said Tom Ferrio, vice president, Educational & Productivity Solutions, Texas Instruments. "As a result, we are offering more options with the TI-92 Plus by integrating the TI-92 and TI-92 Plus Module and adding an improved display. Now educators have the best of both products and will have to purchase only the TI-92 Plus instead of two separate products."
TI has also introduced TI-Presenter, the new TI-Graph Link for Windows® and TI-Graph Link Deluxe Software.
The TI-92 Plus is among the most powerful symbolic, numeric and graphing hand-held units available for high school and university mathematics, science and engineering courses.
Now the Flash ROM technology of the TI-92 Plus Module is built into the TI-92 Plus. This feature allows students and teachers to significantly upgrade the calculator functionality by installing current and future calculator software applications.
The TI-92 Plus incorporates an enhanced Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen that dramatically improves readability.
The TI-92 Plus has about 180Kb of user-available RAM, 110Kb more than the TI-92. The TI-92 Plus also has more than 380Kb of Flash ROM for user data archive and calculator software applications.
Those who purchase a TI-92 Plus or a TI-92 Plus Module will receive the Advanced Mathematics Software version 1.00 installed.
Users of the TI-92 Plus, the TI-92 with the TI-92 Plus Module or the TI-89 will also be entitled to an upgrade of the Advanced Mathematics Software version 2.00 at no extra charge from the TI website when it becomes available in the fall of 1999. The TI-92 Plus will have version 2.00 preinstalled starting in early 2000. Version 2.00 is an enhancement of the previous version that provides better capabilities for creating and using downloadable software applications.
Additional software applications for the TI-92 Plus, TI-92 with TI-92 Plus Module and the TI-89 include statistics with list editor and language localization for displaying the screen in different languages, both of which will be available at no extra cost from the TI website beginning in the fall of 1999. Other applications, such as EE.Pro for electrical engineering from da Vinci Technologies Group, Inc., are available for purchase for these calculators.
The TI-92 has been very popular for the built-in geometry software, Cabri Geometry II. Teachers have been asking for more software options so with version 2.00 of the Advanced Mathematics software for the TI-92 Plus and TI-92 Plus Module, TI plans to include, as a special value, a license to both Cabri Geometry II and The Geometer's Sketchpad® for the TI-92 Plus. The latter was developed as part of a recently announced alliance with KCP Technologies, Inc., the software development affiliate of Key Curriculum Press.
Current owners of a TI-92 can upgrade to Flash memory and the version 2.0 software by using a TI-92 Plus Module, which has been available since June 1998. The TI-92 with the TI-92 Plus Module upgrade will not provide the enhanced display of the TI-92 Plus.
Based on award-winning software from Key Curriculum Press, The Geometer's Sketchpad planned for the TI-92 Plus is a Dynamic Geometry® construction and exploration software tool for students and teachers incorporating Euclidean, transformational, analytic and fractal geometries. With Sketchpad, users can construct, analyze and transform mathematical models and geometric diagrams using freehand drawing and precise construction techniques. Then they can transform, manipulate, and change figures interactively while preserving geometric relationships.
"Interactive geometry, using either The Geometer's Sketchpad or Cabri Geometry II, gives teachers and students the tools needed to explore, analyze and understand geometry in depth," added Ferrio. "With the planned addition of The Geometer's Sketchpad on the TI-92 Plus, teachers will be able to choose the software most appropriate to their needs as well as match the computer software in their schools."
Sketchpad's simplicity and versatility enable students and teachers to do the following:
Cabri Geometry II also includes these capabilities.
The TI-92 Plus estimated street price of US$200 will include a license for the version 2.00 Advanced Mathematics Software, Cabri Geometry application software and The Geometer's Sketchpad for the TI-92 Plus application software. Those with the TI-92 Plus Module also include a license for the software. When the software becomes available, it can be downloaded from the TI website and transferred to the calculator using the TI-Graph Link cable or the unit-to-unit link.
The TI-92 Plus will be available in the United States and part of Canada through retail and educational dealers in the summer of 1999 and available internationally in the fall of 1999. The version 2.0 Advanced Mathematics Software will be available in the fall of 1999.
Educators in the United States may borrow the TI-92 Plus for professional development workshops or for evaluation beginning in July 1999. Contact 1-888-917-6411 or visit www.ti.com/calc/docs/loan.htm.
The TI-Presenter works with all TI graphing calculators that include a TI ViewScreen display connector. TI-Presenter will be available in the U.S. through educational dealers in the fall of 1999.
The TI-Graph Link for Windows cable is a new, low-cost way to connect a TI graphing calculator to PCs running Microsoft® Windows. The TI-Graph Link for Windows cable will be available through educational dealers and some retail stores in the summer at an estimated street price of $20. It comes packaged with computer software on CD-ROM to communicate to all current models of TI graphing calculators with link ports.
TI-Graph Link Deluxe Software provides superior connectivity between a Windows-based computer and the calculator and includes features to access the Internet to acquire data for analysis on the calculator. The software, which will be available in the late summer of 1999, provides enhanced data transfer, an improved user interface, and the ability to connect to different graphing calculators within the same application. The software will be free from the TI web site for all owners of the current TI-Graph Link (gray) cable or the TI-Graph Link for Windows cable. The current TI-Graph Link combination cable for Windows and Macintosh®, along with the accompanying software, sells for a street price of approximately $55.
